Sugar.fir raising 11 Million in series A funding

Sugar.fit raised an $11 million Series A funding to solve India’s biggest health challenge – “Diabetes”. But, to eradicate diabetes for 10 crores of Indians, the solution is harder to implement. Here’s why👇🏼

Diabetes has a lot to do with our cultural nuances.

1/ India eats boatloads of sugar 🍫
With per-capita consumption of sugar of approximately 10 spoons per day, an average Indian eats almost 18 kg of sugar per year. MAD!

2/ Health is still not perceived as a investment 🤐
With even Tier2 India buying iPhones on EMI, have you seen them cribbing about why gyms are so expensive. Health is cost-center & doesn’t elevate social status.

3/ Consumers need to be educated 🙇🏻‍♂️
One Vada Pav has about 200 calories. Eat 2 & you’re already at 400. For some context, it takes the average human 10,000 steps to burn the same. For anyone solving fitness problems, extremely expensive to educate the customer.

4/ Diabetes reversal is lifestyle change ✨
Sure, you can have glucose monitoring devices like Cyborg from Ultrahuman, but all of this monitoring is useless until a diet + exercise + sleep routine is solved for. This is hard for a diabetic person.

What’s Sugar fit trying to do, really?
They have a 3-layer solution.

→ Measure (using glucose monitoring)
→ Build a personalized plan (Diet+Sleep+Fitness)
→ Give you a community with people in similar boats

The last piece – Community, is core to solving the motivation problem. You can’t get someone excited with a diet plan, but when similar humans work together on their problems in a peer group, it’s a force to take consistent action.
